Defence Cooperation Program

The Defence Section is led by a uniformed Defence Attaché from the Australian Defence Force. The Defence Cooperation Program with Myanmar has been suspended since 2021 and engagement with the Myanmar military is limited to critical requirements only, in consultation with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The Section:

Promotes regional and global security through transparency and mutual understanding
Monitors security and defence sector developments in Myanmar
Provides advice on Defence regional developments to Embassy Staff and the Australian Government
